We also offer private safari services for the famous parks in the Northern circuit, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Why Choose Us?

  1. We target customers who need to pay for the only service they need. For this case, our prices and services are set to meet exactly what you need. Luxury operators charge prices much higher than ours for things you do not need, while budget operators charge prices lower than ours and leave out things you do need. We are one of the few specialist companies operating on Tours and Safari and Kilimanjaro climbing.
  2. When you climb with KilimanjaroTravels.com® , you will be climbing with the best crew on Kilimanjaro Climbing in Tanzania. We have built a firm reputation as one of the best on the Kilimanjaro Climbing and Tours and Safari. Our tour guides and mountain guides are over 13 years experience, born and raised on foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
  3. Our local guides are experts on the mountain. Each of our guides is licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park, and have made Kilimanjaro Climbing around 20 times each year, and speaks English fluently.
  4. Each guide has his own team of assistant guides and camp staff who work together on every climb. This frequent collaboration yields a team dynamic that translates into an unparalleled level of service on the mountain. On all Kilimanjaro trips we keep a ratio of three clients to one guide so every climber receives personal attention and encouragement.
  5. We believe that safety is the most important aspect of the climbing experience. Our guides have received first aid training from Kilimanjaro National Park prior to their certification and additional training from us on a regular basis. They can recognize the symptoms of serious altitude sickness and organize immediate descent, which is by far the best treatment, when necessary.
  6. Our guides follow established protocol for handling emergencies on the mountain, including rescue and evacuation procedures. We strive to be a steward of ethical porter treatment, committed to improving the working conditions of the porters in Kilimanjaro. Porters make the trips happen behind the scenes, so their welfare is a priority. Our climbs are staffed with a sufficient number of porters to limit their loads to 25 kg per porter. Our porters are paid one of the highest salaries on the mountain, so they do not depend solely on tips, which can lead to begging, harassment or theft. Every climb departs with an ample food supply so that porters are well fed for the duration of the trip. Tents are examined after every trip and repair any leaks or flaws that would compromise the porters’ shelter. Lastly, our porters have adequate clothing for the harsh mountain climate.
  7. Many tour operators on Kilimanjaro do not have adequate standards for their porters. Porters have the hardest jobs on the mountain yet are the ones most commonly exploited. Many operators simply do not care about the welfare of their porters, and worse, some intentionally engage in unfair and unethical practices when dealing with porters. Other companies may make claims of ethical treatment of porters, but do not uphold their words. Please select your operator with porter welfare in mind. We will happily put our standard of service and our client satisfaction ratings against any of our competitors. 96% of the operators out there do not even come close, while the others will charge you far higher prices for the same level of service.

Our Guides

Our guides at KilimanjaroTravels.com are hand picked from the leading wildlife colleges in Tanzania . They all possess excellent wildlife knowledge, are language proficient, customer service focused, have sound driving experience and have been first aid trained. Other than English and Swahili, our guides collectively speak over seven languages enabling KilimanjaroTravels.com to effectively communicate with culturally diverse travel groups.

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that our guide’s knowledge is continually evolving, all guides are enrolled in our internal mentoring program and are required to attend compulsory scheduled continuing education programs. Financial support is also offered to all staff to encourage ongoing career development. We do this because we believe that, besides our guests, the guides are the second most important part of every safari.

Our Chefs

Our Chefs

When it comes to food, practice makes perfect and with well over 100 years of shared experience catering for international safari goers from private camping safaris, overland safari group catering, right through to 5 star fine dining lodge cuisine our team of chefs will deliver perfection at every mealtime.

For those travelers with specific dietary preferences or allergies, our chefs have a list of alternate tasty options that can easily be prepared to ensure that even the most discerning food critic or sensitive stomach will be delighted.  The only thing our chefs ask is that they are given notice prior to safari so they can adequately prepare.

Junior Chefs & Camp Hands

Knowledge and experience is aparted to the team of junior chefs and camps hands by our senior  chefs in our own internal mentoring program. Junior chefs and camp hands are taken under the wing of senior chefs and safari guides.

Our Food Suppliers – Fresh is Best

KilimanzaroTravels.com realizes the importance of delivering consistently good quality catering to our guests whilst on safari so our chefs only purchase fresh meat and produce from carefully selected suppliers locally in Moshi. KilimanzaroTravels.com has selected these suppliers for their reliability, the consistent quality of their meat and produce and of course the variety available.

Our Certification & Insurance

Your safety is our number one priority

Many safari companies currently operate in Tanzania without a Tourism Agent License (TALA). This is a license issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism of Tanzania and is only issued to companies that meet the strict operating requirements set out in the Tourism Act. The Act focuses on the safety requirements of a company whilst on safari, professional conduct of the company and its staff in relation to the handling of tourists and whether the company adheres to the rules and regulations of operation in the National Parks ensuring that companies have minimum negative impact on the environment. Companies that fail to qualify for a TALA license cannot legally carry tourists, which means all insurances carried by the company and travel insurance of guests in considered “Null and Void”.

KilimanjaroTravels.com has a current TALA License, all guests are covered by our public liability insurance (AON), all vehicles are comprehensively insured and we have emergency evacuation systems put in place to ensure that we can deal with any emergencies that could arise.

Kilimanjaro Insurance

Trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro carries with it certain inherent risks. Chief among these is the risk of altitude sickness.  It’s a good idea to look into travel insurance before your journey.  Make sure your insurance covers trekking up to 6,000 meters, which does not come standard in most travel insurance packages.

Check out the World Nomads calculator for a quick calculation of the cost of travel insurance for your trip to Kilimanjaro.

Responsible Tourism
